Documentation

In this stage of the SLC the documentation of the system is made. It is usually done after the testing because things change during testing etc. The documentation of a system is usually paper based but however can be done electronically. In this stage the user guide is created to aid the main user and the end users. Types of documentation include: Program specification, system specification, training manual, installation manual and operations manuals.

Maintenance

There are about three types of maintenance:

Corrective maintenance: This type of maintenance is straight forward; a problem is identified and is reported, the development team fix it and give it to a team for testing. Once the testing team have clear is the system is update.

Adaptive Maintenance: This type of maintenance is caused by external influences that affect how the system works or details in the system. An example would be the change in Tax, if the tax price goes up or down them the system need to be adjusted to calculate the tax properly

Perfective Maintenance: This type of maintenace takes place over some time while the system is in use. The user may identify some things that make the system better. However, these are not faults with the system they are only things that make it better. For example a more flashy colour scheme or adding more menus etc.
